CA57 Mourns Passing of Jim North
The CA57 family mourns the passing of long time Little League volunteer Jim North, who passed away unexpectedly September 29 at the age of 60.
Jim was a life-long resident of Dublin, graduating from Dublin High School in 1976. Jim became active in Dublin Little League with his son Tyler and served over the years as manager, umpire, UIC, and President, continuing his volunteer duties long after his son had finished his Little League career, including serving as a District 57 volunteer umpire for well over a decade.
Jim was an avid sports fan, and passionate about baseball. He caught the umpiring bug and, until recent injuries prevented him from umpiring, could be found most weekends, and numerous weeknights, behind the plate working DLL and CA57 upper division games. Even when he was no longer able to physically umpire himself, Jim would be out supporting youth umpires, instructing them in mechanics and how to properly work a game.
Jim was an ardent supporter of youth sports, and Little League in particular, and worked tirelessly and selflessly to make sure that the youth of CA57 had umpires to work their games. He will be sorely missed.
Jim is survived by Toni, his wife of 34 years (and original author of the CA57 Scorekeeping guide) and his son Tyler.
Rest in Peace our Friend.
